HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
As of 12:00pm EST Thursday, November 6, Thanksgiving pre-orders are closed.
As we’re plugging away at our strategic plan and catering beta phase, we continue to feel grateful for the support and love you’ve given during this time of experimentation and change. In the spirit of that, we are taking a different approach to the holiday season this year. Instead of our typical 1,000-pie bake, we are working as a small and mighty team to produce 300 pies (and dozens upon dozens of cookies) with quality and care.
Are you doing first-come, first-served pies this year?
Stay tuned for an update regarding first-come, first-served purchase this Thanksgiving!
I already have a pre-order, when and where do I pick it up? Do you even have a store anymore?
All pre-orders will be available for pick-up between 12:00pm (noon) and 6:00pm on Wednesday, November 26 at Sister Pie. Our address is 8066 Kercheval in Detroit. Due to our meticulously planned Thanksgiving schedule, we cannot accommodate pick-ups outside of the designated pick-up day/time. Please note: all pre-orders must be picked up by 6:00pm Wednesday 11/26. No refunds will be given for orders not picked up by that time.
I placed a pre-order but don't remember what I ordered!
You may review your pre-order information by looking at the confirmation email automatically sent directly following purchase. CARING FOR YOUR PIE
Below are some helpful hints to keeping your Thanksgiving pies fresh for the big day.
Please refer to our Pie Care + Storage page for more information.
How long do your pies keep? What's the best way to store them?
We think our pies taste best at room temperature. We recommend you keep them on a cool counter, out of direct heat. If you won't be serving your pies for a day or two, you can also keep them in the refrigerator (in the box is fine). We recommend letting them come up to room temperature before serving.
The Apple Butter Custard and Cranberry Crumble are best stored at room temperature and eaten within 2 days of purchase. However, they can also be refrigerated for up to 5 days.
The Milk Chocolate Chess and Salted Maple are best stored at room temperature and eaten within 3 days of purchase. However, they can also be refrigerated for up to 1 week.
Can my pie be reheated?
As a general rule, Apple Butter Custard, Milk Chocolate Chess, and Salted Maple are not recommended for serving warm (they will melt in the oven and won't hold their shape).
To warm the Cranberry Crumble from the fridge or from room temperature, heat the oven to 300º F and warm for 20 minutes, checking the pie by placing your hand over the center to see if it is fully warmed (more time may be required).
To warm your pie straight from the freezer, heat the oven to 350º F and warm for 20 minutes, checking the pie by placing your hand over the center to see if it is fully warmed (more time may be required).
SLICING YOUR PIE!
WHIPPED CREAM RECIPE
We've been making fresh batches of whipped cream every day at Sister Pie since the beginning. Not only is it the ideal counterpart to pretty much any pie you can imagine, but it's also a perfect way to highlight our state's beloved Guernsey dairy. A dollop goes splendidly with our Thanksgiving pies, amount many many other things.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
pinch of kosher salt
Whisk all ingredients together (either with a stand mixer, hand mixer, or metal whisk) until it reaches soft peaks. Be careful not to over whip or you'll end up making butter! Store in the fridge until you're ready to serve. If the whipped cream starts to deflate while sitting out, give it a quick whisk to fluff it back up!
We take pride in our flaky, well-baked all-butter crust that forms the basis for each pie. As such, we highly recommend using your sharpest knives to slice these pies for a clean cut.
Our pies are ideal for serving when sliced into 8 equal pieces, as shown below in this handy doodle guide.

Here are some tips and tricks for slicing this year's Thanksgiving flavors to help make the process less intimidating for this holiday's designated "pie carver."
-
For the Apple Butter Custard, Milk Chocolate Chess, and Salted Maple pies: Use a sharp chef's knife to cut through the pie.
-
For the Cranberry Crumble pie: Use a serrated knife to saw through the top layer of the pie; this works much better than using a chef's knife and won't crush the pie's topping.
